Lunar regolith-formed structures serve as foundational materials for lunar surface construction, and the performance parameters are critical criteria for evaluating the engineering applications. This article reviews the current research status of lunar regolith forming technologies and performance testing methods worldwide. It highlights three urgent research needs for in-situ performance monitoring of regolith-formed structures: in-situ characterization and evaluation of material properties; rapid measurement combined with long-term monitoring; in-situ performance assessment through multi-source data fusion. Furthermore, the article explores the potential applications and prospects of in-situ performance monitoring technologies for lunar regolith structures. The insights provided in this article offer valuable references for the development of China’s future technologies in lunar regolith structure manufacturing and in-situ performance evaluation. |
